Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor has left for Singapore en-route for a six-hour heart surgery in the United States this Saturday. The Ruler is expected to be admitted for treatment for about three weeks.Selangor state secretary Ramli Mahmud said while the people should not be unduly worried, they should try to offer prayers for the 64-year old Ruler, whom he added was in serious condition.
“The Sultan left to Singapore last night and this morning at 9am he would have flown to San Francisco,”said Ramli in a joint press conference with Ruler’s private secretary Mohamad Munir Bani.
“I also ask the Selangor religious department to seek the cooperation of the mosques and surau in the state to offer prayers for the Sultan for the duration of his stay in the hospital.”
