
Two newspapers published by parties in the Pakatan Rakyat oppositionalliance have been targeted - 'Suara Keadilan' run by oppositionleader Anwar Ibrahim's Keadilan party, and 'Harakah' operated by theIslamic party PAS.'We received a letter from the home ministry this afternoon sayingSuara Keadilan has been banned for three months with immediateeffect,' said Keadilan spokesman Tian Chua, adding that no reason hadbeen given. 'We fear that this action by the government is a preludeto a general clampdown on press freedom in Malaysia.'
Pakatan Rakyat's fear is the start of a media crackdown under incoming premier Najib Razak.
